GWO FIRE AWARENESS TRAINING
COURSE OVERVIEW
GWO Fire Awareness (FAW) provides the skills and knowledge for participants to be able to identify a fire in a WTG environment and be able to either extinguish the flame or get themselves to safety.
GWO Fire Awareness participants learn about fire behavior, how to try properly and safely to extinguish a fire, and quite possibly the most important part, how to prevent fires from starting. In order to make the training as realistic as possible, all of our extinguisher training is done with live fire evolutions and live extinguishers.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Participanst completing a GWO Fire Awareness (FAW) training course will be able to:
- Identify Fire Safety risks and hazards in the workplace
- Prevent fires in the workplace
- Assess fires and select the correct extinguishing method
- Demonstrate fire fighting techniques with various extinguishing methods
- Evacuate safely from the hazardous area
COURSE CONTENT
A GWO Fire Awareness training course includes:
- National and international legislation
- Fire Combustion and Behavior
- Assessing and Extinguishing Fires
- Fire Prevention
- Fire Fighting Equipment in a WTG
PREREQUISITES
In order to complete a GWO Fire Awareness course, participanst must:
- Be WINDA registered before arriving for the course.

A good standard of general fitness is required – participanst will complete a medical fitness questionnaire.
